Vargsriket was founded in 1995 by bassist DRAUG and guitarist GRYM. In 2002, the band released the self-produced debut "Satanic Execution Commando Vargsriket DCLXVI CSBM". The limited edition of 500 CDs received fiery reviews in the international underground and has been sold out for years. The band's Black Metal was characterised by strong choruses from two equal vocalists, explosive rhythm guitars, distinctive lead bass and versatile drumming.
Between 2002 and 2006, Vargsriket played about 30 shows in Austria, Slovenia, the Czech Republic and Hungary, including shows with MARDUK, IMPALED NAZARENE, DARK FUNERAL and BELPHEGOR. At the end of 2014, the band reunited with new drummer VXR for the anniversary edition of the Austrian Black Metal Force. VARGSRIKET played their first live show in almost nine years in front of a sold-out Szene Wien. Shows at the sold-out "Black Metal Invasion VI", in Slovenia and a single show with DØDHEIMSGARD followed.
